Selous

The Selous is approximately 55,000 sq km, covering 5% of Tanzania’s land, making it the biggest game reserve in Africa.  The only reserve with a wide river flowing through it; the Rufiji river is a striking feature creating lakes and flood plains in high rainy season and providing a vital water source for wildlife in the Selous during the dry season.  At the lakes and you can spot all the animals of interest drinking water, African hunting dogs, elephants swimming and lions hunting prey.

Selous is unique in that it not only offers you a chance to do game drives in a vehicle, but it also offers boat safaris along the rivers and lakes and unlimited walking safaris.  It also offers some of the best lodges and camps in Tanzania.
