The Selous is approximately 55,000 sq km, covering 5% of Tanzania’s land making it the biggest game reserve in Africa The only reserve with the widest river flowing through it the Rufiji river is a striking feature creating lakes and flood plains in high rainy season this is the existence of wildlife in the Selous during the dry season this is what makes the Selous special easy game drive along the lakes and you are bound to spot all the animals of interest drinking water from the lakes elephants swimming and lions hunting prey by the lakes .
